Whilst recently exploring Cumbria in all its glory, we stumbled across the lovely town of Ambleside.
It’s natural charm and beauty immediately enticed us in and we wanted to know more of what this gorgeous town had to offer.
We headed to the Tourist Information Centre which had lots of information on the town, specifically the surrounding walks. As a result we chose a short 2 mile walk. This route took us up to the stunning Stockghyll Force Waterfall. Because this walk is really off the beaten track you may have trouble finding it, especially if you’re not a local or come ill prepared, just as we did. After a short walk away from the bustle of the town you get lost in your own thoughts surrounded by the beautiful scenery.
This route is part shaded which in contrast made it the perfect place for ‘Bella’ our Golden Retriever. Further into the walk we headed towards some open fields and rolling hills. The wonderful and stunning views captivated us, just another reason to enjoy this walk.
This walk finishes in the town after heading back down the hills. In addition to this walk, you could take the longer route and explore more of this particularly stunning countryside. As a result I will add more walks to my bucket list.
All things considered this is a great circular walk for all ages and walking abilities, with lots of lovely places to sit whilst enjoying the tranquil surroundings….. It was great to see what Cumbria has to offer. I am therefore looking forward to another chance to explore this beautiful county.
